Before any of  these next senarios happen to Call us first and we can help guide you Through many of these obstcals.

In some instances an insurance company will refuse to pay a claim submitted by its policyholder. This is often referred to as "denying" the claim. The claim may be denied, for example, because the company has determined that the loss is not a type that is "covered" by the terms of the insurance policy or that the person who suffered the loss is not an "insured" for purposes of the policy or that a policyholder engaged in some type of misconduct which "voided" the coverage. Because of the complexity of insurance policies and because the resolution of coverage disputes often depends on careful analysis of the unique facts and circumstances of each case in light of applicable state law, the assistance of an attorney experienced in the handling of insurance coverage matters is strongly advised.

You choose the auto body shop; Insurance Steering is Illegal!

there is the bad practice of insurance steering that has emerged that is tainting the whole insurance cover process. Insurance companies are now working in cahoots with auto repair shops to minimize the cost of doing repairs. Some insurance companies even own these auto shops i.e. Sterling Auto Body, owned by Allstate Insurance, making sure every claimant has to visit the shops in their “list” in case of an accident. Insurance companies do this in order to lower the amount of money they will pay for your car repairs, in an effort to make more profits.

Often when an accident occurs and the individual approaches the insurance company with their own choice of repair shop, the insurer will most often threaten not to pay their share of the damages, or come up with a line like “they are not in our list of preferred shops”, and so forth. This is just an attempt by the company to intimidate customers. However, don’t be afraid to do what you think are the right things for your car, and are in your best interests.

Don’t be steered from your best interests by your insurance company and by other companies looking to profit from such partnerships. The body shops involved in such contractual agreements look to do the repair work by using the cheapest parts. This could translate into more trouble for you, as the substandard parts may not work as perfectly as the original parts, with the end result being another (and maybe more fatal) accident. Insurance companies are oblivious to this; the bottom line is all that matters.

So what do you do to stay clear of these and other insurance steering maneuvers? As a motorist it is important to be involved when coming up with the insurance claim details. By this I mean that you should have a say in the valuation process, as well as calculating the deductibles and premiums to pay. In the case of an accident, cooperate fully with your insurance company, and if you feel the repair shop they recommend is not up to your liking, then you can choose to take your car elsewhere. It is your car and therefore your choice, don’t be steered into options that you are not comfortable with.
